Golfers Required To Speak English

August 29, 2008 · Leave a Comment

This has nothing to do with real estate but I found this so interesting. The LGPA is requiring all golfers on the tour to be proficient in English by the end of 2009. This is a very controversial topic and it will be interesting to see how it turns out.

The LGPA says no one on the tour is being singled out and it is unclear how they will measure a players ability to speak English. To read the full article check out the New York Times by clicking here.

Childhood Memories

August 28, 2008 · 1 Comment

When I was a kid if we had speghetti one night the next night we would have fried noodles and eggs. Sounds different but it is so good!!!

You take your leftover cooked speghetti noodles put them in a frying pan with a little oil and butter at med heat. You don’t touch the noodles until the edges start to turn brown and crunchy and then you flip them over and so the same with the other side. Then you serve them with a fried egg on the side.

Sounds different but it is so good and brings back fond memories!

Days of Summer!

August 12, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Blb_zoo_3 Summer in the NW is amazing! I hope you are taking full advantage of this weather because as we all know the rain will come back. Everyone in the office has been out enjoying the sun.

Robin and her daughters went berry picking last week at Sakuma Farms. It’s a drive but totally worth it. The produce she came home with looks amazing!

I took my boys potato picking. Sounds like an odd thing to do but why not? Boys love to play in the dirt and we got some really good Yukon and red potatoes. We went to Bailey Farms in Snohomish.

Brandon and his wife Lacey took their little guy to the Woodland Park Zoo this week. I hear Ben really loved the ferrets of all things! Dave and Robin went along to with granddaughter Katie.

106 MPG, Yes 106 MPG

August 8, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Art_aircar_jpeg_2  This sounds too good to be true so it probably is. I read an article today on cnn.com that states there is a dream car in the works. Get this:

  • 6 passenger car
  • 106 miles per gallon (that’s not a typo)
  • speeds up to 90 mph
  • meets all US safety requirements
  • price tag of under $18,000
  • available in 2010

See what I mean about too good to be true? The car uses compressed air and fuel to generate power. I can’t explain how it works so you’ll have to click here to read the cnn article.

Coffee Stand Ordered to Cover Up

August 6, 2008 · Leave a Comment

We’ve all seen those coffee stands where the girls wear next to nothing but in Belfair, WA they’ve been ordered to cover up! KIRO TV reported the espresso stand "Espresso Gone Wild" baristas wear pasties to cover up their unmentionables. The espresso stand drew a lot of complaints so the county looked into it and decided the baristas were erotic entertainers. The stand in question is not zoned for erotic entertainment and the county ordered them to cover up or close up shop. Don’t believe me? Here’s the proof! It was also on the video segment of today’s cnn.com. National news coverage for something like this, wow!

Curb Appeal

August 5, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Summertime in the North West is absolutely beautiful! I guess it’s worth putting up with rain for 10 months out of the year to enjoy all the greenery and lakes in the Seattle area for our short summer weather. It’s also the time when your house looks it’s best!

When sellers put their house on the market they tend to focus on the inside, which is very important, don’t get me wrong but you need to set the mood before they even step through the door. First impressions are key and you don’t want to lose anyone! Here are some tips to go the extra mile on curb appeal:

  • Remove all moss and debris from the roof and gutters
  • Mow the lawn of course but also trim the edge and use the weed eater!
  • Weed flower beds regularly
  • Add color flowers, it makes a big difference!
  • Keep driveways and walkways clean
  • Remove cobwebs, especially near the front door

It’s expensive but if you can and the house needs it paint goes a long way! It’s hard to live in a house that’s for sale but you never know where or when the right buyer will show up!

Tom Douglas Designed Kitchens

August 1, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Tom Douglas is a Seattle chef that has written several cook books and is now branching out into real estate, kind of! He has teamed up with CamWest Developments to design kitchens for 44 new homes in Bellevue, WA. Under construction right now is the development called Devon Lane.

The new kitchens will have 30 inch deep counter tops (that’s 6 inches deeper than standard) and a huge difference in functionality. To see one of these kitchens click here. This home goes for just under $900k. Hopefully for that price you get some cookbooks and some Tom Douglas spice rubs. Also in the works for Douglas is a line of kitchen items available through amazon.com.
